چکیده
Abstract This paper investigates the impact of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategies adopted by urban consolidation centres on competition between logistics service providers. Taking into consideration pollution charges issued city councils to reduce CO 2 emissions in freight distribution, we study a Hotelling-like market setting where providers could voluntarily outsource last mile deliveries platforms endowed with eco-friendly vehicles. We considered intensity competition, which is captured switching costs and theoretically find that more contestable markets, interplay environmental policies CSR strategies—intended as consumers-oriented pricing schemes—is likely enhance demand for centres’ deliveries. Conversely, when weak, i.e., have relatively strong power, platforms’ services are less attractive relevant needed spread out greener make environmentally sustainable.
